We are a family company CRYSTAL KAM s.r.o. run by the Kodaj brothers. For more than 30 years we have been active in the crystal glass market and, thanks to the combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technologies, we are among the leading Slovak manufacturers.

Each of our products is made entirely by hand – this is the prerequisite for its high quality and long lifespan.

Our roots

The home of our production is the Strážov Mountains, the village of Valaská Belá. As the local soil once could not sustain the inhabitants, a tradition of cut glass was born here. The history of glassmaking in the region dates back to 1747, when glassworks were founded in the settlement Gápeľ with the help of Jesuits. The surrounding forests provided wood for sheet glass production and men from Valaská Belá traveled through towns and villages, glazing windows.

In 1956 a glassmaking cooperative focused on cutting and decorating lead glass and porcelain was established. After it ceased, the tradition was continued by private companies – including our family company CRYSTAL KAM s.r.o.

How we make

Each of our products goes through a thorough process of hand creation – from glass blowing, through drawing motifs, cutting and cleaning, to precise packaging of finished pieces. Each phase requires masterful skill, precision and a deep sense of detail.

We then apply gold dissolved in a chemical medium to the polished glass. In an electric kiln at about 500 °C, a characteristic shiny golden surface is created. Then we hand-paint leaves, flowers and other decorations, which are fired again to gain their final form. Rich cut ornaments complement gilded surfaces, giving each piece a unique character, depth and unmistakable shine.
